Join internationally recognized artists Ana Llorente and Michelito Herrera for an immersive Afro-Cuban Dance Training Series dedicated to the roots of Afro-Cuban rhythm, movement, and expression.
Participants will explore essential elements of Afro-Cuban dance traditions including Rumba, Orisha-inspired movement, and authentic Afro-Cuban body technique.
Through guided exercises, rhythm work, and movement exploration, dancers will develop a deeper understanding of the relationship between music, body, and cultural expression that has influenced many Afro-Caribbean and Latin dance forms.
This series welcomes dancers interested in expanding their technique, musicality, and cultural awareness through authentic Afro-Cuban training.
A performance group opportunity may be offered for dancers who wish to continue training and present choreography.

Ana Llorente
Teacher & Choreographer
Ana Llorente is a former Professional dancer and choreographer with one of the leading Contemporary/ Afro-Cuban dance companies in Havana, Cuba. A Multiple World Ballroom Champion and graduate of Cuba’s most prestigious National School of Arts, specialized in Contemporary Dance and Afro-Cuban Folklore.
Ana is internationally recognized for bridging the ancestral intelligence and deep rooted traditions of Afro-Cuban movement with the technical precision and athletic excellence of competitive DanceSport. Her work embodies both cultural legacy and high-performance discipline.
She has served as principal choreographer for films, TV productions, and internationally renowned television shows, and is a respected judge at national and international dance events, as well as an organizer of cultural exchange platforms dedicated to preserving and elevating artistic heritage.
Michelito Herrera
Teacher & Choreographer
Michelito Herrera is a respected Afro-Cuban dancer, teacher, and cultural ambassador dedicated to preserving and sharing the depth of Cuban folkloric traditions. Born and raised in Cuba, he developed his artistic foundation immersed in the island’s rich cultural heritage, studying and performing Afro-Cuban folklore, rumba, and traditional dances rooted in Yoruba, Congo, and other Afro-diasporic traditions.
Former Musical Director of the internationally acclaimed folkloric group Yoruba Andabo, where he led musical arrangements, percussion, vocals, and artistic repertoire for four years.
Immersed in Cuban folkloric dance and music since the age of six, Michelito has shared stages with renowned artists including Chucho Valdés, Juan Formell, Oscar D’León, Xiomara Laugart, Calle 13, and Juanes, performing across Europe, Latin America, and the United States. He notably performed with Yoruba Andabo and Chucho Valdés at Carnegie Hall in 2012.
Through performances and workshops, he teaches Afro-Cuban dance and music traditions including Batá drumming, Rumba, Abakuá, Columbia, and Tambor Yuca.
